We're Hiring: Marketing and Communications Executive

The Irish Computer Society (ICS)/ICS Skills is seeking a highly organized Marketing and Communications Executive with strong technical skills to assist in the planning and execution of our annual campaigns, press releases, social media, conferences and in-house industry events. The successful applicant will collaborate with colleagues to facilitate a wide variety of products, services, training and membership marketing ranging from internationally marketed collateral to niche publications and tweets.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing and Communications Executive will be responsible for assisting with campaign management, campaign creation, campaign analysis, media relations, external communications, copywriting, social media and digital marketing. 

The applicant must be comfortable interacting with members of the media, and should be able to communicate in an articulate manner both verbally and in writing in a variety of tones and voices.


Communications/ Marketing

  • Digital Marketing delivery and analysis using tools such as Salesforce, Google Analytics, AdWords, Joomla, Mailchimp, HootSuite, SQL, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Assist Marketing Manager with communications strategies and planning
  • Coordinate marketing and promotional tasks with the marketing team
  • Manage online campaigns within agreed budgets optimising for lead generation
  • Meet communications’ deliverables and objectives
  • Facilitate promotional material and newsletters with events, sales and IT teams
  • Researching new marketing opportunities
  • General marketing activities as they arise
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining the company online presence
  • Generating story ideas and content for newsletters, articles and social media pages
  • Updating and writing content for websites
  • Writing editorial for numerous publications
  • Tracking and reporting statistics on website, social media and newsletters
  • Responding to requests and comments on social media platforms
  • Organising and maintaining the company media archive
  • Producing media reports as needed
  • Maintain a detailed record of all communications operations, materials and expenses

Media Relations

  • Fielding media requests and disseminating project information via phone and email
  • Manage communications, press release and social media operations during large events 
  • Managing the coordination of videography and photography shoots; serving as onsite contact when necessary
  • Managing multiple press lists
  • Writing and distributing press releases
  • Assisting with representing ICS/ICS Skills at press events


The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, energetic, and highly organised. The candidate should have an interest in technology, marketing, media and communications. Strong web research skills, a good knowledge of major media outlets, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are mandatory.

Skills and Requirements:


  • Degree in Marketing, Communications Management or Business Studies (with focus on marketing or communications) 
  • Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Google TagManager
  • Integrated marketing campaigns using Mailchimp & Salesforce, ideally with experience in marketing automation processes
  • A basic knowledge of HTML and an ability to edit HTML code
  • Excellent organization skills, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple events
  • Excellent copywriting and proof reading skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Salesforce, Joomla or equivalent, ECDL Advanced preferred)
  • General understanding of standard operating procedure for social media, press relations and other media
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure and develop effective contingencies
  • Proven track record of successful implementation of marketing and communications planning with examples 
  • Strong communication skills, and an ability to interact confidently with vendors, customers, media, senior management, board and council members

Highly Desired:

  • General understanding of IT Services and the education sector in Ireland 
  • Previous integrated marketing experience
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with the ability to thrive under pressure in a highly motivated team 
  • Experience of using on-line communications in the implementation of communications strategies for conference and events
  • Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and HTML skills
